About unisay

unisay is a collection of essays and resources that have a shared focus on youth participation. Like other child rights, such as the right to education and the right to protection from injury or abuse, children have the right to express their views and to participate in decisions affecting their lives. unisay is working to make this right a reality for all children by exploring new ways to address the digital divide, either through innovations in technology or through more informed practice. We’re doing this by locating and compiling resources that relate to advances in youth communication, by posting essays from experts in the field, and by facilitating ongoing discussion and dialog in our comments forum. The goal is that through focusing on possibilities and opportunities, rather than on failures, we can generate ideas that help give all young people a voice.

Essay Submissions

unisay welcomes essays about youth communication from a variety of different perspectives. We invite you to correspond with us in advance of submitting your essay. If you have an idea for an essay, you can ask whether it seems suitable for unisay, and if so, how it might best be developed. If you are further along in your thinking and writing, you can send in your essay for review. All submissions will be reviewed and responded to within 4 weeks. Correspondence, proposals, and essays should go to Katie Mulloy at kmulloy at unicef dot org.

Essay length is flexible, although most should be between 500 and 1,500 words. We welcome supplementary media including pictures, video, audio clips, etc.

Resources

Is there a book, essay, article, or story that is related to one of our focus areas that you would like to share with other unisay readers? We are interested in hearing about new research and perspectives related to youth communication, and would be happy to include brief descriptions and links to such items in our resources section.

Contributions should include the title, author, a brief description including why you feel it is useful for unisay, and any links if applicable.
